Cyd Charisse (nee Tula Ellice Finklea) was born in Amarillo, Texas in the "Roaring 20's". She took the surname "Charisse" when she married Nico Charisse. Her second marriage lasted the better part of five decades.  She is among the handful of Hollywood legends whose career was built upon both acting and dancing in equal measures.   She is also distinguished by receiving the United States National Medal of the Arts and Humanities (awarded posthumously in 2006).  A complete biography is on the Wiki.
